The strong academic offerings and diversified student body of BCPS are well-known. In order to address the requirements of its varied student body, the school system provides a broad range of programs, such as advanced placement (AP) classes, gifted education, and special education. In order to improve student performance, BCPS has launched a number of initiatives in recent years. These include efforts to close achievement disparities between various student groups, a greater emphasis on STEM instruction, and the use of technology in the classroom. In general, the vast and varied BCPS school system provides education to a sizeable portion of the Floridian population. It is renowned for its extensive academic initiatives and activities that are designed to raise student achievement.

We moved from WA State to FL so there has been quite a culture shock and lots of adjustment for my kids in Broward Co. a few hiccups here and there, but overall the staff, kids and teachers all care about getting kids to reach their full educational potential. Parents could help out more, some of these kids don’t even show up, or fail everything without consequence. Kids go from classroom to classroom to see their friends and the schools have their hands tied with disciplinary actions. The schools are old and run down, in need of replacement, but I doubt the bonds and levies would pass for such upgrades. Overall FL ranks pretty low for education, but with so much diversity comes a lot of differing cultural views regarding education and lots of families have recently immigrated-which creates its own unique set of boundaries (including language, financial, etc.). I trust my kids will receive a great education and will be prepared for college, so I am pleased.

Broward County Public Schools is one of the largest public school districts in Florida, with a diverse student population. Many students appreciate the range of educational opportunities and extracurricular activities available in the district. However, like any school system, there may be areas that could be improved upon. Some people have mentioned overcrowding and the need for more resources in certain schools.
